Grow Native Plant Tees

Santa Barbara Botanic Garden | Eco-Inspired T-Shirt Series

This mission-driven retail project translated the Garden’s focus on conservation, preservation, and education into a series of T-shirts inspired by California native plants. The outcome was merchandise that functioned not just as apparel, but as an extension of the Garden’s interpretive voice and public-facing mission.

Retail Apparel and Accessories

Created to extend the Garden’s educational mission through apparel, this T-shirt series connects seeds and mature plants in ways that foster curiosity and deepen ecological awareness. The designs highlight seeds as both beautiful and essential: carriers of future growth, biodiversity, and resilience. By helping viewers recognize these forms in the wild, the series encourages a broader appreciation of native plants beyond peak bloom.

Botanical Impressions

Inspired by the herbaria collection at Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, this cyanotype series reinterprets California native plants through a process that echoes the look and spirit of preserved botanical specimens. The work reflects the herbarium’s essential role in conservation and preservation, where pressed plants serve as lasting records of biodiversity, tools for ecological research, and, at times, the only remaining evidence of extinct species.
